About Me

                                                                 Hi! I'm Sarah :)

                                                                  I'm enthusiastic. I'm energetic. I'm creative.

                                                                  I'm also annoyingly determined.

I love organizing things, which is probably fortunate considering I have four kids, a husband, a busy career and                                                                      approximately 700 volunteer commitments (an exaggeration LOL!). Don't worry...if I got into City Council, I                                                                              would reduce my work week from 5 days to 4 to make time for all council commitments.

I've got a lot of hobbies! I love growing flowers, camping, going for walks, stand-up paddleboarding, taking                                                                            photos, dressing up in wigs, cheering for the Blue Jays & Bills, spending time with family and friends, and going                                                                    to the theatre. I love coaching because I love kids, I love sport and I love helping people discover what they're                                                                        capable of. I love our Stratford library and can frequently be found listening to an audiobook while I'm doing                                                                          something else (I'm averaging 45 books a year!).

I'm married to a wonderful man named Justin Ahrens (and yes! Janet is my amazing mother-in-law who has taught many children in Stratford through Avon Co-op Nursery School). Justin and I have built our life here in Stratford, and our four kids keep us busy with hockey, baseball, school, friends and all the wonderful things that come with raising a family.

Since 2015, Justin and I have also welcomed five international students into our home, two from Brazil and three from Spain. We've loved learning about their lives and cultures, sharing our everyday life with them, and showing them our little corner of Canada. We try to make them feel like part of our family, and we've been lucky to have some pretty special young people become part of ours.

More than anything, I love people. I love getting to know them, hearing their stories, bringing people together and making people feel welcome.
